Modern cars are equipped with electronic Engine Central Units that influence the quantity of injected fuel and control ignition depending on the engine's operating mode. Car producers are therefore forced to compile these programmes of Engine Central Units data according to general criteria and with considerable reserves. To explain it in one sentence - a car, coming off the assembly-line, must function in extremely hot climatic conditions as well as in extremely cold ones. Therefore the serial programme data is very wide in order to take account also of further aspects (such as low fuel quality etc.).

Consequently, the engine only uses 60-70 % of its optimal power. This low efficiency of the engine can be easily and safely changed by so called chip tuning - the adjustment of stored data inside Engine Central Unit.

What is the aim of chip tuning ?

The aim of chip tuning is to optimalise generic programme characteristics and "tailor" them according to specific conditions - specific to the engine type and programme of the Engine Central Unit.

What is chip tuning about ?

Chip tuning is about the exchange of so called EPROM memory - the electronic memory block with a generic software - with a specifically modified software.

Our work is to adjust the injection, ignition characteristics and air to fuel ratio. We adjust for the use of high octane petrol. For turbo-charged engines, the filling pressure is increased too - some cars do not have sensibly adjusted upper level of max torque and the speed restrictor.

These changes in software optimalise the generic programme characteristics only. There is no modification of the mechanical parts of the engine.

The Engine Central Unit modification should only be carried out by professional engineers using diagnostic equipment which is able to measure, test, find and record any changes.
